Introduction to The Regimental Recruiting Team and Army Youth Team

The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment (2nd Battalion, The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters & Foresters) – Sep 07) have a Regimental Recruiting Team (Chilwell, Nottingham) and a Army Youth Team (Lichfield, Staffs) that conduct Regimental Recruiting and Army Recruiting. We achieve this by conducting Team Building and Personal Development Activities for Cadets, Schools and potential recruits as well as other recruiting tasks. The team consists of serving infantry soldiers, including specialists from Mortars, Javelin Anti-Tank, Signals, Physical Training, Sniper and Army Driver Platoons.

The team’s job is to encourage and assist suitable applicants to join the Army. The team promotes teamwork and the Army’s core values, selfless commitment, discipline, loyalty, integrity and respect for others, as well as key citizenship skills. You may not be aware that the infantry as well as other careers within the Army, offer a wide selection of inter-transferable qualifications.

Look At Life Course:

The Army Youth Team conduct a 5 – day residential course at Whittington Barracks, Lichfield, Staffs. The course caters for 14-17 year olds, males and females who have a genuine interest in finding out what life in today’s Army is really like. Students are accommodated in recruit accommodation and take part in command tasks, map reading, physical training, rock climbing, sport and fieldcraft, culminating in an outdoor overnight exercise. Each student will leave with a certificate and a better understanding of Army life.

Did you know…

The Worcesters & Foresters take a special interest in their recruits in training and provide a ‘Regimental Shepherd’ who provides guidance and moral support throughout the training process. He is completely independent to any instructors and reports directly to the Regiment, not the training establishment.

If you are a teacher or community leader, please get in touch on the number below or with the Army Careers Advisor. The Army Careers Advisor can also provide a careers brief in unison with our activities. Our courses are very popular and can be tailor made to fit your requirements. It is recommended that you book early to avoid disappointment.
