WHY CHOOSE THE WORCESTERS AND FORESTERS

As a Worcester and Forester you will be trained to operate all over the world as part of a formidable team in order to defeat Britain’s enemies.  You will be at the forefront of the action and your tasks will vary enormously. You will be trained to fight in conventional operations, then be given additional skills for specific deployments, whether working in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Balkans or anywhere else in the world. Whatever you are called upon to do, you will be with Your Mates, Your Regiment, Your Worcesters and Foresters.

The Infantry soldier is the foundation of the British Army’s success and is involved in a variety of tasks.  In combat they assume a major role in attacking and defeating the enemy, by day or night, whatever the weather, in any part of the world. They defend areas that are vital to winning a battle, protecting key points, routes and communication centres. They counter enemy Special Forces, Parachute and Heliborne Assault troops, and destroy enemy tanks. They observe and patrol against the enemy in order to gain information and defeat him.

An Infantry soldier may work with a variety of modes of transport; from armoured vehicles to helicopters, airplanes or assault boats; and in all types of terrain: deserts, towns, cities, forests, mountains and the Arctic.  In essence, the Infantry soldier is trained to protect his comrades and himself, to use his initiative, skill and cunning to defeat the enemy, whenever and wherever he is called to do so.

The Worcesters and Foresters is a Light Role battalion, which can serve anywhere in the World.  Through the formation of the MERCIANS, Worcesters and Foresters will offer opportunities to serve in Armoured and Mechanised Infantry battalions also.  If that is not enough Worcesters and Foresters are currently serving in the three elite units of British Special Forces: Special Air Service (SAS), Special Boat Service (SBS) and Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR).
