The Band was originally formed in 1951 as part of The 43rd Tank Regiment and has since undergone several changes of title. It became The Northumbria Band of The Tyne-Tees Regiment on the 1st of July 1999 on amalgamation of "The 6th (Northumberland) Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers", "The 4th/5th Battalion The Green Howards" and"The 7th Battalion The(Durham) Light Infantry".It has since changed it's name to The Band of The Royal regiment of Fusiliers with the disbandment of The Tyne-Tees Regiment and the formation of The Fifth Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
Based at St Georges TA Centre Newcastle, the bands principle aim is to inspire and uplift The Regiment and through public parades and performances to maintain a strong link between the Army and the commumities from which the Regiment continues to recruit.
The Band's operational role to provide medical assistants forms an essential part of the Army's capability.

The team provides a Regal opening for that more prestigious Occassion
The Band performs at numerous Royal, Civic, Public and Private Engagements.
The group provides a wide selection of music for the more subdued event.
