tri_Service logoNews from DE Ops Housing - The Introduction of Housing Information Centres - Important changes to Service Families Housing in Great Britain
 
An important change is taking place on 1 April 2007 to help DE Ops Housing to improve the housing service we provide.  On that date a network of seven housing Information Centres (HICs) will be launched across Great Britain - in (from north to south) Rosyth, York, Telford, Thetford, High Wycombe, Aldershot and Warminster.  DE Ops Housing letter and Housing Information Centres Map...
 

 
 

Over 30 million pounds has been paid out to over 26,000 UK Service personnel under the new Operational Allowance scheme, which came into effect in Autumn 2006. 

Over 17,500 Army soldiers have been paid, as well as around 2,500 officers.  A further 1,400 royal Navy and 4,700 RAF personnel received the entitlement.

 

A Commonwealth soldier who, under the new naturalisation policy, will be able to count his Armed Forces service, at home and abroad, towards qualification for UK citizenship.

New citizen rights for Commonwealth Service personnel - Commonwealth soldiers serving in the British Armed Forces abroad can now gain UK citizenship under a change to the rules announced by the Home Office on 22 November 2006.

To reflect the commitment and sacrifice made by Service personnel from outside the UK in the British forces, they will now be eligible to apply for citizenship despite having been stationed abroad for the majority of their service.

 

Joan Ryall who served in the Women's Royal Army Corps from 1961-1963 is presented with a Veteran's Badge by Armed Forces Minister Adam IngramVeterans Badge awarded to 1960's veterans - The Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram, presented Veterans Badges to newly eligible veterans from the 1960s.

Eligibility for Her Majesty's Armed Forces Veterans Badge, and the UK Merchang Seafarers Badge, has been extended to include all men and women who served at any time up to 31 December 1969.

 

 

 The New Arctic EmblemTwigg: first Arctic Emblems signify Nation's gratitude - The first Arctic Emblems were presented to Veterans by new Veterans' Minister Derek Twigg as a mark of the Nation's gratitude for the heroism they displayed in the face of terrible hardship on the Arctic Convoys of World War Two.
 

 

Under-Secretary of State for Defence and Minister for Veterans Derek Twigg has announced a new welfare package for service in-patients.  New Welfare Package for Service Hospital in-patients - The Under-Secretary of State for Defence, Derek Twigg, today (5 October 2006) announced the implementation of a welfare package for service hospital in-patients.

The new package focuses on operational casualties at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine and the Defence Medical Services Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court.

The package includes a range of measures that will replicate the 'Operational Welfare Package' for those in hospital and will improve financial assistance to the families of those injured.
