Officer Cadets Help Out at Zoo

On 27 June Officer Cadets from Edinburgh University Officer Training Corps completed a programme of construction work at Edinburgh Zoo, including the provision of a new antelope enclosure and improvements to the lemurs' home.
The work was undertaken as a valuable training exercise for the Officer Cadets, and followed a similar programme of work conducted last year, when the chimpanzees received a new playground. This year, they have built a new enclosure for Bongo and Duiker Antelopes and Red River Hogs, and constructed a high-level walkway for the Ring-Tailed Lemurs in their own enclosure. The project called for a wide range of engineering skills, including demolition and clearance work, the installation of a visitors' viewing window and the digging of two ponds and a reed bed.
