Music On Fire
To commemorate the 60th Anniversary of D-Day and the foundation of the Army Benevolent Fund, Major Sir Michael Parker KCVO CBE, the mastermind behind and organiser of Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee Celebrations outside Buckingham Palace, is to stage "Music on Fire!" at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on the 9th & 10th of July 2004.

"Music on Fire!" will tell the story of a 'Century Under Fire'. Set to the
sound of massed bands, an orchestra, pipes and drums and a choir
playing popular and classical music, a range of special effects will
combine to produce a dazzling, unforgettable evening for everyone,
young and old. The Old College building will be lit up by massive
fireworks, pyrotechnics, projected images and dancing flames. The first
half of the show will be rounded off with the 1812 Overture - The Grand
Finale will be kept a closely guarded secret!
All proceeds from the event will go to the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF)
the Army's National Charity. The ABF was founded in 1944 shortly after
D-Day when it provided support for the 4.5 million men and women who
had served their country during the Second World War as they returned
to civilian life. Its objective in its 60th year is to raise the profile of the
Fund, as well as raise much needed funds in order to continue providing
assistance to serving and retired members of the Army.
