The Values and Standards of the British Army - This is the statement of the Values and Standards of the British Army issued to every soldier.
The values that the Army espouses, and the standards that are required to sustain those values, are necessary to uphold the ethos of the Army - its characteristic spirit,
...that spirit which inspires soldiers to fight
- thereby contributing directly to fighting power.
All officers and soldiers in the British Army are required to commit themselves to achieving and maintaining values and standards which are in some respects different from, and more demanding than, those which apply in society at large.
It is the duty of commanders at all levels to ensure that these values and standards are accorded the highest priority, are fully explained to their soldiers, and are applied consistently.
Commanders must themselves lead by example, and discharge in full their duty of care.
The Military Covenant - The Military Covenant is the mutual obligation between the Nation, the Army and each individual soldier; an unbreakable common bond of identity, loyalty and responsibility which has sustained the Army throughout its history.
