TA & Reserves including Full Time Reserve Service (FTRS)
The Directorate of Manning (Army) is responsible for the Terms of Service governing the TA and Reserves specifically Full Time Reserve Service (FTRS).
There are three types of FTRS engagement:
Full Commitment (FC)
Limited Commitment (LC)
Home Commitment (HC)
As their titles suggest, each of these categories carries with it varying degrees of commitment for deployment and employment of the individual volunteer. Details of these engagements (which are open to members of the TA and Regular Reservists) are contained in TA Regulations, the Compendium of Reservist Regulations and via the chain of command from the TA and Reserves MCM Division at the Army Personnel Centre, Glasgow. The rates of pay and conditions available for these engagements vary slightly, in order to reflect the nature of the duties, which an individual will be performing.
The details of FTRS vacancies are listed in the TA JobShop on the Army Website and are routinely updated. Application forms for FTRS are held in the various annexes to TA Regulations.
The Directorate of Manning (Army) is the responsible authority for much of the TA Regulations. As such it is routinely called upon to decide and adjudicate in matters concerning discharge from the TA and Reserves and appeals with regards to Terms of Service.
In addition, The Directorate of Manning (Army) governs the Terms of Service relating to Non Regular Permanent Staff (NRPS), Sponsored Reserves (SR) and all conventional categories of TA personnel and Regular Army Reservists.
