Colonels and Colonels Commandant are appointed as the titular heads of Regiments and Corps in the Regular Army. In the Reserves they are referred to as Honorary Colonels and Honorary Colonels Commandant. Following tradition some are referred to by other names such as Colonel Commandant Royal Armoured Corps, The Master Gunner, The Chief Royal Engineer, The Master of Signals, the Colonels Commandant of pisions of Infantry, the Colonels, the Colonels Commandant, the Deputy Colonels Commandant and the Representative Colonels Commandant of Regiments and Corps and the Deputy Colonels of large Regiments of Infantry.
