Financial Retention Incentives (FRIs).
Aircrew Retention Review (ARR)/Financial Retention Incentives (FRIs). The ARR remuneration package comprises a series of FRI payments (introduced in 2002) and the creation of a new, separate Professional Aviator’s pay spine (referred to as the Pilot Employment Stream (Army) (PES(A)) for the Army) for selected aircrew with effect from 1 Apr 03.
There are two taxable FRIs: one 5 years before the Immediate Pension Point (IPP) (ARR FRI 1) of £30,000 and the other at the IPP (ARR FRI 2) of £50,000 for officers and £30,000 for other ranks. There is a Return of Service of 5 years for each FRI. Full details of the ARR FRI scheme are set out in D/DPS(A)/4/25/PS10(A) dated 24 Jan 02 which is held by your Regimental Administrative Office.
