The Royal Yeomanry Training Contact Us History Operational Roles Skills Joining Adventure Training Current News The Band (Inns of Court and City Yeomanry) The Inns of Court and City Yeomanry Band of the Royal Yeomanry was formed in 1961 following the amalgamation of The Inns of Court Yeomanry (nicknamed the Devil's Own) with The City of London Yeomanry (The Rough Riders). However, the history of the Band can be traced back to 1771 when the Bloomsbury and Inns of Court Volunteers raised a Corps of Drums.
	At the turn of the century the Corps had expanded to encompass buglers and trumpeters; the first of many musical stepping stones on its way to becoming a full military band in the reorganisation of 1956. On parade, the Band consists of 35 musicians, with many former members of regular service bands 'blending' with students and graduates of the London Colleges of Music, music teachers and musicians. The band wears the colourful uniform of The City of London Yeomanry (The Rough Riders) which consists of a Lancer cap with purple plume, a light blue tunic with purple facings, light blue trousers with two Prussian grey stripes, boots and spurs.
The band has toured Switzerland, Germany, Holland, France and Belgium. They have performed throughout this country and give concerts and displays for all types of occasions. The ceremonial Cavalry Trumpeters are much in demand for presentations, dinners and conferences. This year the Band is again in great demand including performances at Hampton Court Palace, St. James' Park, The Chelsea Flower Show, The TAVRA Chelsea Festival Concert as well as an engagement for the British Embassy in Rome.
