Territorial Army (TA) Volunteers come from all walks of life, and, as far as possible, aim for the same standards of training and professionalism, and use the same equipment, as their Regular counterparts. Regular and TA units have the same rank and trade structure but the principal difference is that the Volunteer training is done in the evening and at weekends with one 2-week period of continuous training each year.
