All donations to the Royal Signals Benevolent Fund are gratefully received. Every penny is spent specifically on welfare, helping to improve the quality of life of those less fortunate present and former members of the Corps, who are in conditions of hardship or distress. Nothing is taken for administrative purposes.
Gift Aid is the easiest, most cost efficient way to give to The Royal Signals Benevolent Fund, because all you have to do is fill in a Gift Aid declaration when you make a charitable donation. Under the Gift Aid scheme, the Government tops up any donation you make with basic tax relief. It works like this;
You wish to give the Benevolent Fund £10.00. We, as the registered charity, can claim back the basic rate of income tax, making your donation worth £12.82 to us. If you are a higher-rate taxpayer, you can, through your tax return, claim back 18% - the gap between basic tax of 22% and higher rate at 40%.
Donations from individuals in 2007 totalled £6,937 and if each donation had been supported by a Gift Aid declaration, this amount would have increased by £1,956.
Gift Aid is simple to claim. You have to fill in a Gift Aid Declaration but this is a simply a matter of downloading the form completing it and sending it, together with your cheque to:
Accounts, RHQ R SIGNALS, Blandford Camp, Dorset DT11 8RH. Unfortunately we have no facility for debit/credit cards.
Once you have made a Gift Aid declaration, there is no need to fill in a new one for each subsequent donation you may make.
Perhaps you might like to mention to your family that donations to the Royal Signals Benevolent Fund would be preferred to flowers when it comes to your turn to meet the great Signaller in the sky?
