Fencing

The Corps Colours
Fencing with the Royal Signals With a very long history in the Army, it has recently been recognised by the Royal Signals as an official sport and is growing in numbers. During trade training at the Royal School of Signals, soldiers get the opportunity to start fencing in the 'Sport for All' programme; whilst officers have the opportunity to train at RMAS before joining the Corps. The sport also attracts those who participate in Modern Pentathlon, of which fencing is one of the 5 disciplines. Royal Signals have fared well in recent years at the Army Championships and always fielded a good team. Individually, Captain Anderton-Brown is the Captain of the Army team and he has also been selected to fence for the Combined Services. There are numerous competitions on the civil and military fencing circuits and opportunities to compete abroad in Hungary, Malta and Germany.
