A Christmas Message from the Master of Signals
I am delighted to have this opportunity once again to send my very best wishes to you all, and to express my continuing admiration for the impressive work being done, particularly in operational theatres, by soldiers of the Corps today, including those from our vital Territorial Army component. Your commitment and achievements, often in the face of considerable adversity, are adding even greater lustre to our name. I am very proud of you all. Well done!
My thoughts particularly are with all members of the Corps family who have lost close relatives during the year, with the injured and with all who are separated by duty from their families over this holiday period.
I send my warmest regards to all members of the Royal Signals Association, not least to repeat one of my central messages; that all those serving today greatly value and draw inspiration from the contribution you made during your own service which laid the solid foundation for the continuing success of the Corps today.
Happy Christmas and every best wish for 2008! |

A Christmas Message from the Signal Officer In Chief
Let me begin by saying ‘thank you’ to the men and women of the Corps for the service that you have given to the Nation and the Army this year. Your skill, courage and self-sacrifice have enabled you to overcome enormous challenges. You have every right to be proud of yourselves.
For some the price has been high, and on behalf of the Corps I should like to express our gratitude and respect to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, to the injured, and to those who grieve. We will remember you.
I owe a warm tribute to my predecessor, Brig John Thomas. His hard and tireless work for the Corps, during three years as Signal Officer in Chief, is an inspiring example of selfless commitment and has left us well placed to face the challenges that lie ahead. Like many of you who are reading this, he is now deployed on operations and I wish him and all of you, a successful tour and a safe return.
I see the Royal Corps of Signals going from strength to strength over the coming year. We are different from other arms and services; in our Corps, strong links of loyalty, friendship and mutual support cross all boundaries of regiment, rank and trade. This ties us together in a strong and resilient human network in which the skill and courage of our individual soldiers and officers are multiplied many times over. It makes us equal to any challenge.
I wish all of you in our great Corps family, whether serving or retired, a very happy Christmas and best wishes for 2008. |
