Royal Signals Soldier Training

The Corps Colours

'I wouldn't change my choice: I've a trade which will really help me to get a job if I decide to return to civilian life... I've visited places I'd never have seen otherwise... I've got my Army colours for karate... I'm about to buy my first house.'

TRAINING

There are three broad phases of training. The length and timing of each phase will vary depending on your trade and each trade has three grades (Class 3 up to Class 1). You will have the opportunity to train in order to achieve greater skills in your trade and enjoy associated benefits such as promotion, greater responsibility, and higher salaries. Progression will always depend on your successful completion of military and trade up-grade courses.

Phase 1 basic training

PHASE ONE

Standard Entry soldiers attend basic military training for between 11-21 weeks, and Apprentices attend the Army Apprentices' College for six months.
