The Corps Colours

BAND OF THE ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS 'INSIGHT' COURSES

Look at Life StudentsThe band is running two residential 'Insight' courses in Blandford this year. The courses are available to anyone over the age of 14, who play a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument to at least ABRSM grade 5 or equivalent standard.

We can also take vocalists, guitarists and keyboard players.

The course, which is completely free, will provide an honest and realistic insight into army life within the Corps of Army Music and indeed the Band of the Royal Corps of Signals. This includes working along side the band and learning some basic military skills. 

The dates for the courses are:

  • 31 Mar 08 - 04 Apr 08 
  • 06 Oct 08 - 10 Oct 08

GENERAL INFORMATION

Look at Life Students 2006The Band of the Royal Corp of Signals is a regular Army military band based permanently in Blandford Fourm. The band travels abroad regularly and has recently visited Canada Sweden, America, Hong Kong,Falklands and throughout Europe.

Age Bracket  Applicants can apply from as young as 15 years 8 months to age 37

Salaries A new entrant will be paid around £12500 per annum. On completion of training this will increase to approximately £15500.   With experience and completion of Trade Employment Qualifications this ammount will rise significantly. 

Qualifications  No GCSE or other academic qualifications are necessary however applicants should be at least grade 6 ABRSM standard.

Selection The Armed Forces Careers Office will interview you. You will sit the Army entrance test and have a medical examination.


Audition The Armed Forces Careers Office will arrange an audition at The Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. This will consists of written theory paper, an aural test and practical assessment.  You will be interviewed by a Director of Music and your result will be posted within two weeks of your audition.
