Captain Guy Booth MMus BA(mus)LRSM LTCL
Captain Guy Booth joined the Army in 1985 at the Junior School of Music, Guards Depot, Pirbright as a saxophonist, where he was awarded the prize of Best Pupil. He then attended the Pupils Course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, in 1987.
In January 1988, on completion of the Pupils Course he was posted to the Band of the Welsh Guards based at Chelsea Barracks, London. During his time with the Band he undertook numerous State Occasions and toured extensively to places such as America, Japan, Belize and Europe.
Following promotion to Sergeant in 1997, he attended the Student Bandmasters Course at Kneller Hall. On completion of the course he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music, LRSM in Conducting and various competition prizes including Best Church Service and the Loder Prize for Elocution and Concert Presentation.
On 17th January 2000, Captain Booth was posted to the Band of the Royal Lancers as Bandmaster, WO1. During the following three years the Band undertook many varied and interesting engagements throughout Germany and the rest of Europe.
Captain Booth was appointed as Bandmaster to the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers, in April 2003, where he undertook many engagements, the highlight of which was a tour to the United Arab Emirates with the Big Band. He also achieved a life long ambition and gained a performance diploma on saxophone.
On January 23rd 2006, Captain Booth was commissioned to the Corps of Army Music and became the Director of Music to the Royal Corps of Signals.
