31sigregt Royal Signals Corps Colours

31 Signal Regiment is made up of a Headquarter element, a support squadron (83 Support Squadron) which is co-located with the Regimental Headquarters and three radio squadrons, 41 (PLK) Signal Squadron, 5 (QOOH) Signal Squadron and 56 Signal Squadron.

The Regiment provides deployable Information Communications Services (ICS) and Information Management (IM) capability in support of the Regional Chain of Command for UK Operations.  5 (QOOH) Signal Squadron, based in Banbury and Oxford is the Close Support Squadron to 145 (Home Counties) Brigade which is based at Aldershot.  56 Signal Squadron, based at Eastbourne and Brighton provide Close Support to 2 Infantry Brigade based at Shorncliffe.

41 (PLK) Signal Squadron based at Coulsdon and Kingston provide Long Haul Strategic High Frequency (HF) communications in accordance with the US/UK Memorandum of Understanding using a specialist equipment, LANDWARD.  It also provides Intra-GB National HF links.

UK Operations are divided into three main areas:  Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA), Military Operations (MO) and Military Home Defence (MHD).
