242 Signal Squadron

The Corps Colours
ACISG Logo 242 Signal Squadron provides Communications and Information Services support to the Army in Scotland and Northern England. The Squadron Headquarters is co-located with Headquarters 2nd Division, in Edinburgh, and there are detachments in York, Catterick and Preston, as well as at a number of ranges and training areas throughout the region.
As well as being part of ACISG (soon to become 10 Signal Regiment), the Squadron also performs a number of other roles throughout the 2nd Division area, which include the provision and maintenance of Public Address and sound systems at high profile events, such as the Edinburgh and Berwick Military Tattoos, and also emergency public address systems for various concerts held on the esplanade at Edinburgh Castle.

Fibre Instillation

The latest major project for the Squadron, was the complete installation of the communications infrastructure at the new 51 Brigade Headquarters in Stirling. This included fibre optic cabling and I.T network installation.In these two pictures, Squadron staff can be seen involved in the tasks mentioned.
