Recent Operations - Op TELIC II

Iraq,  June - November 2003

The Corps Colours

209 Signal Squadron deployed to Basrah in support of 19 Mechanized Brigade Headquarters between June and November 2003. It provided communications and life support for the Brigade in south east Iraq.

Additionally, foot and river patrols were carried out to maintain and improve security in the region.

The Squadron also carried out restorative and charitable work in the region. £8000 was raised for local charities from the sale of Iraqi coins. Mattresses were donated from Britain and distributed to the region's inhabitants. The Commonwealth War Cemetary in Basrah, which dates from after the First World War, was also restored.
