The rules are contained in Article 401 of the Army Pensions Warrant 1977. An officer or soldier who is voluntarily re-employed in peace time in any one of the Armed Forces, within 5 years of being made redundant, will be required to repay part of his Special Capital Payment in accordance with the following formula:
Where A is the number of complete months elapsed since the last day of paid service.
