Royal School of Military Engineering

LOCATION & DIRECTIONS
 

The Royal School of Military Engineering is divided into two sites, the Headquarters and Construction Engineer School are based at Chatham, Kent and the Combat Engineer School at Minley, Surrey.

HQ RSME and Construction Engineer School Location

From M1, A1(M), M10, M11 - Join the M25 southbound (clockwise). Cross over the Dartford crossing (Queen Elizabeth II Bridge) and through the tollbooths. After approximately 1.5 miles filter left and join the A2 to Rochester. After 10 miles filter left onto the A289 (as the road becomes the M2) remaining in the left-hand lane (signposted A289 Gillingham). Remain on the A289 bypass until the roundabout; take the second turning towards Chatham Maritime. At the next roundabout, take the first turning heading towards the Medway tunnel. At the next roundabout take the first turning to enter the Medway tunnel filter lane. Proceed through the tunnel and exit up the slip road for Chatham and Gillingham. At the roundabout take the third turning followed by a further roundabout (outside Greenwich university) take the second turning towards Chatham. At the roundabout at the top of the hill take the first turning left and about 200 yards on the left is the Main Entrance to Brompton Barracks.

From M40, M4, M3 - Join the M25 southbound (anti-clockwise); M26; M20. At junction 6 join the A229, following signs for Chatham. Cross the roundabout at the top of Bluebell hill, proceed past the Forte Post-house on your left and, after crossing the next roundabout, filter past Mid Kent college. Follow the A230 down into Chatham. On entering the town centre, follow the road past the bus station on your left and under the viaduct. Turn left into the one-way system at the traffic lights, and follow the road around to the right. After the next set of traffic lights, filter left and join the A231 to Gillingham. Follow the road past the Lloyd’s Building and entrance to the Historic dockyard. At the next roundabout take the second exit, up a small hill. The main gate to Brompton Barracks is on the left, just after the road begins to level out.

Combat Engineer School Location

Exit Junction 4A on the M3. Follow the slip road that bends round on itself to a roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout, following signs for M3 London, Camberley and the A327. Follow the road up over the M3 for 500 metres, until you come to a roundabout. At the roundabout turn left onto the A327. Continue on the A327 past the Crown and Cushion public house on the left and up a hill for approximately 1 mile. At the top of the hill you will find Minley Manor on your left and the entrance to Gibraltar Barracks on your right.
