| The Combat Engineer School is located at Gibraltar Barracks, Minley in Surrey, it consists of a Headquarters, a dual role training and Support Regiment and two training wings, Battlefield Engineer Wing and Communications & Information Systems Wing. The School plays an essential role in sustaining an adequate battlefield engineering capability in support of UK military operations. It is a centre of excellence for skills and command training. |

The School is manned by selected officers, WOs and NCOs taken from the field army who bring their recent experience with them. They then return to field units with enhanced command and combat engineer expertise. The School is responsible for individual combat engineer skills and battlefield engineering functions from section up to regimental level.
Between 700 and 1000 students are trained daily at Minley and elsewhere. On a total of 194 courses annually of 45 different course titles covering subjects such as Bridging, Water Supply and Demolitions. |

Gibraltar Barracks is well served with local training areas including Hawley Lake, which is used for watermanship, bridging and diving continuation training. | |
