Commando Training
 
WHAT DOES THE COURSE ENTAIL?
  First of all volunteers will attend a 4 week Pre-All Arms Commando Course at RMB Chivenor. They will become part of Achnacarry Troop (Achnacarry is a place in Scotland near Spean Bridge where WW2 Commandos trained). This 4 week course is designed to develop volunteers both physically and mentally to enable them to pass the All Arms Commando Course at Lympstone.
 
PRE-ALL ARMS COMMANDO COURSE
During the 4 weeks at Chivenor, training will include the following:

• Weapon Handling Tests
• Fitness Training
• Map Reading/Navigation

• Patrolling and Field Tactics
• Signals Training
• Preparation and Maintenance of personal equipment
• Mandatory passing out tests to proceed to Lympstone

 
 
PASSING OUT TESTS
30 Foot Rope
Climb a 30 foot rope wearing Full Fighting Order carrying your personal weapon, total weight around 35lb.
Assault Course
Cover 12 obstacles wearing Full Fighting Order carrying your personal weapon in 5 minutes.
200 Metre Carry
Wearing Full Fighting Order, carry a man and his equipment including weapon for 200m in under 90 seconds.
Regain Rope
Demonstrate a "Full Regain" onto a rope over a static water tank wearing Full Fighting Order and carrying your personal weapon.
