SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
The continuing social activities revolve round The Officers' Club, The RAOC Association and The RAOC Golfing Society. The latter is not a Trust responsibility, however, it is a branch of the RAOC Association.
Brief details of the 3 are:
RAOC Officers’ Club: Is open to all former commissioned officers of the RAOC ( both regular and TA). Annual subscription is £5.00 per year.
Membership entitles you to attend the Annual Club Dinner (usually in October) held in the HQ Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) Officers’ Mess, RAOC Sunday (usually in July) comprising a Service followed by lunch in the HQ RLC Officers’/Sergeants’ Messes and a free copy of the RAOC Gazette (issued Jan/Jun annually).
RAOC Association: There are still 23 active branches of the Association within UK. HQ branch exists to cater for all those who do not have a local branch near at hand. Membership of the HQ branch costs £2.00 per year. Local branches set their own subscription rate – some do not charge. Membership of the Association entitles one to attend RAOC Sunday described above, free issue of the Gazettes and access to all branch activities. Branches exist in London, Scotland, Newcastle, York, Preston, Merseyside, Manchester, Shropshire, Birmingham, East Anglia, Chilwell, Ashchurch, Bristol, Didcot, Bicester, Isle of Wight, Salisbury and Farnborough. Additionally there are TA, RAOC Golfing Society, Rugby and Vehicle Specialist Branches. All branches are encouraged to extend membership to former members of other forming corps of the Royal Logistic Corps (ie RCT, ACC, RPC and RE (Postal and Courier)).
RAOC Golf Society: The Society is very active, has 262 members and holds Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings. In addition 9 matches are played against other Corps/societies. Membership costs £5.00 per year and entitles one to play in any of the events and, in addition, the same rights as membership of the Association.
