The Royal Logistic Corps was formed on 5 April 1993 by the amalgamation of soldiers from different Corps;
from the Royal Corps of Transport came drivers, air dispatchers, port and maritime specialists, movement controllers, railwaymen and radio operators -from the Royal Army Ordnance Corps came supply controllers and supply specialists, vehicle specialists, petroleum operators, ammunition technical and explosive ordnance disposal teams - from the Royal Pioneer Corps came artisans and defence skilled soldiers -from the Army Catering Corps came chefs and catering expertise whilst postal and courier operatives came from the Royal Engineers.
The RE continue to function as a major part of the British Army whilst the RCT, RAOC, RFC and ACC have passed into the pages of military history. The history of our Forming Corps goes back well over 200 years and reflects the development of the British Army and its ever-increasing reliance on logistic support in peace and war. The Royal Logistic Corps carries forward the proud traditions of its predecessors.
