BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

The Territorial Army is part of Britain's reserve land forces and together with the Regular Reserve they provide support to the Regular Army. Today, the TA is considered the Regular Army's reserve of first choice and is an integral part of the UK's land forces.

From rifles to rocket launchers, motorcycles to main battle tanks, the Army's effectiveness depends on its equipment being fit and ready to go at a moment's notice. The Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) makes sure that it is. The REME TA is no different.

Whether Regular or TA, all REME personnel, apart from being trained soldiers, have a hands on trade; i.e. Vehicle Mechanic, Vehicle Electrician, Electronics Technician, Metalsmith, Technical Storeman, Recovery Mechanic, Armourer, and Regimental Specialist.

REME TA are divided into two main groups, Regional and National.

Regional refers to units that are recruited and train locally. These types of units are best suited for those volunteers that wish to learn a trade and have the time available to train for 27 days a year. To find a unit near you please follow this link. www.tanearyou.org.uk

National refers to units that recruit nationally but train together. This type of unit requires volunteers who are already qualified and will only train for 19 days a year. For more information please follow this link. www.specialist-reme-ta.co.uk
