REME has always excelled at sport, placing considerable emphasis on physical activity and adventurous training. Whether you have got Olympian aspirations or just enjoy playing a particular game, no matter how obscure it is you will be encouraged to develop your interest and helped to maximise your potential.
Time is set aside during the working week for a wide range of team and individual pursuits including football, rugby, hockey, cycling, skiing, sailing and wind-surfing.
These can also be enjoyed after work and at weekends. If you do have ambitions to go on to great things, the Army will support you every step of the way, helping you adjust your PT programme to best suit your sport.

All members of REME can expect plenty of opportunities for adventurous training, where the sports get a bit more extreme and the locations more far flung —ice-climbing in the Canadian Rockies, to name but one.
The Army has top-notch watersports facilities around the world in exotic hotspots such as the Caribbean and Mediterranean and you could get the opportunity to become proficient in a wide range of water-based activities such as scuba diving, windsurfing and even knee-boarding.
The Army believes that sport and adventurous training are key to developing leadership skills and confidence, as well as broadening your outlook and improving your personal skills.
With such a variety of sports and adventure on offer, you will soon find yourself enjoying activities you’d never even thought of before you joined the Army.
REME FACILITIES BAVARIA
The REME Facilities in Bavaria consist of the REME Hotel and the REME Adventurous Training Centre (ATC). The facilities offer exceptional value for money and are situated in one of the most beautiful regions of Southern Germany.
THE REME HOTEL - BERGHOF URBAN
Situated in the town of Wertach in the beautiful Allgau region of Bavaria and owned outright by the Corps, the REME Hotel offers fantastic value for money accomodation for both serving (including TA) and retired members of the Corps and their immediate families. The hotel operates on a fully tax-paid basis and is open for most of the year, closing only for short periods in April, May, November and December for staff leave and essential maintenance.
THE REME ADVENTUROUS TRAINING CENTRE (ATC)
Nestling high in the hillside of the picturesque hamlet of Gunzesried-Saege, the ATC is rented privately by Comd ES 1 (UK) Armd Div for the benefit of REME Personnel. Due to the tax-free status of the facility, only those personnel entitled to tax-free concessions, posted to BA(G) or on officially authorised exercise are able to use the ATC. The facility is open to Adventurous Training groups for the majority of the year however for 6 weeks of the year, it is opened to families for the FAMSUM and FAMSKI packages.
