Despite losing riders for operational tours, 2006 was another excellent year for the team who once again consistently outperformed their main rivals. We have produced excellent results and have quality in depth.
2006 ISDE
The 2006 ISDE was held in New Zealand. The Army was allocated one club team and REME was represented with two of the three riders; Cpl Kevin Murray and Cpl Steve Hunt. The Support Crew was led by WO1(ASM) Tim Gordon with Cpl John Nelson as outrider. Cpl Murray seized his engine on Day 4 and did not finish, but Cpl Hunt was awarded a creditable Silver medal.
Auto Cycle Union (ACU) British Enduro Championship
The British Championship series was competed for over five two-day events with each of the ten individual days carrying British Championship Points. Where possible we entered 9 riders, making three teams of three. Teams included a wide variety of expertise, from accomplished Championship Class riders to individuals riding for the first time. Notable Team REME results were as follows:

Team: A total of 26 teams coming from Manufacturers, Trade and the Services contested the BEC series. Team REME 'A' finished a very creditable 8th overall and beat many of the Trade teams and came closely behind the Factory backed TM Factory Team. We were the ACU "Best Service Team."
Welsh Two-Day
Although not an ACU British Championship round, the Welsh Two-Day is a most prestigious event attracting top UK riders and a large entry of over 400 riders. This year we won the Best Service Rider Award (Cpl Murray) and our 'A' Team took the Best Service Team Trophy.
Exercise HARD RIDE - BAFMA Championship
This is the most prestigious event in the BAFMA calendar. Individuals and teams compete for a host of awards, the most prestigious of which is the Norton Trophy awarded to the Army Champion for the best individual result. This year the event was run over Longmoor training area and included Map Reading, SATT range, Mechanical Tests, Trials and Enduro riding. The event also includes four selected British Army riders to compete against an invited Swedish Army Team. Individual results were as follows:

Exercise ENDURING HELP
This is a REME run (Sgt Noy supported by SEME and available REME riders) 24-hour motorcycling event organised to improve the riding ability of soldiers and raise funds for charity. Each team is made up of five members, four riders and one support member, all riding one standard Harley Davidson 350 motorcycle. This year's event attracted a record 98 teams and raised a considerable amount for Child Line, The ABF and other charities. SEME 'A' took the overall win.
Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT)
REME was once again well represented in the Army team, with WO1(RSM) Sandy Mack and Cpl Bill Rhodes selected to ride. Major Mike Tizard (Army SSDT Team Manager) managed the team and provided support.
Enduro School
Team REME organised a three day Enduro school in Feb 2006 on Slab Common Training Area as a fund raiser. Instructors with world class credentials were invited to instruct up to sixty local riders in advanced riding techniques. The school proves very popular with riders as it coincides with the start of the British Enduro Championship.
Exercise NATTERJACK
Exercise NATTERJACK was the penultimate round of the British Enduro Championship and in 2006 attracted 280 individuals. All Team REME riders must assist in the organisation and running of the event. The event attracts over one thousand civilians and ensures good exposure for the Team and Recruiting Mobile Display Team. Again this year the National media cover was particularly favourable and despite the appalling weather conditions on the Sunday which caused a premature end to the event, they gave it much praise.
