The days are long gone when unscrupulous Recruiting Sergeants roamed the country, tricking gullible youngsters into "taking the King's shilling" by slipping a coin into a glass of ale. These days the Regiment prefers to invest in the youth of today to provide the soldiers of tomorrow.

The Regimental Recruiting Team (RRT) consists of 16 soldiers commanded by a Colour Sergeant, and ranges throughout Lancashire and the Isle of Man to bring a taste of modern army life to the public in general and young people in particular.

The Regimental Recruiting Team
| The Team is equipped with a paint-ball range, pistol range, and display caravan and can be seen at most of the major shows, displays and events in the region . It also maintains a range of "command task" equipment which it uses to organise training days and test exercises for schools, sports clubs, charity events, job centres and other organisations.

Lancashire and Isle of Man schools can also benefit from Army Challenge Days organised by the RRT, where a number of teams compete for prizes over a series of command tasks. |
