Although our history stretches back over three hundred years, The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (PWRR) is a modern, professional, capable, regional infantry regiment. Despite our title, we draw the vast majority of our officers and soldiers from the five counties (Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Middlesex and Hampshire) of the South East of England. We also recruit from within London and we are the only Infantry Regiment that recruits from the Channel Islands. Our Soldiers come from your communities, we are your local Infantry Regiment. The Regiment comprises two Regular Battalions (1 and 2 PWRR) and one Territorial Army Battalion (3 PWRR).Please click here to email. Although these Battalions have different roles and are located from Cyprus to Germany, they are brought together by the close bond that comes from being part of a Regional Regiment.

The British Infantry has an international reputation as being amongst the best soldiers in the world. As an infantryman you will first receive training from some of the best instructors in the world and become an expert in the modern rifle, machine gun and other specialist infantry weapons. You will also be trained to operate as part of a formidable team in roles that can vary from frontline action to peacekeeping and disaster relief. So you’ll need to be tough, fit, reliable, adaptable and determined, able to fit into a team and want to work for a common goal. Loyalty and a sense of humour are valuable assets, along with flexibility of mind to cope with the many challenges.

The Regiment has been involved in virtually every theatre of war since The Battle of Tangier in 1662 and is the most decorated Regiment in the British Army with no less than 57 Victoria Crosses – including the recently awarded VC to L/Cpl Beharry for his gallantry in Iraq in 2004 – as well as other countless decorations Click Here to read some of the citations. The Regiment is nicknamed ‘The Tigers’ and this aptly sums up our attitude. The Regiment has a very high reputation and we are considered to be among the best and our record on operations bears this out.

In the pages of this site you will find out where the Regiment came from in the ‘ history’ page, and more importantly where it is going on the ‘ battalions’ Page. You can find out about the different roles that we train for and the equipment that allows us to get the job done on the ‘ hardware’ page. You will also be able to find out where your local recruiting office or TA Centre is and what you will need to do to become a Tiger on the ‘ Way in ' page. For further information go to the locations page and select your local office.

We also have a Regiment Support Team which is located in Canterbury who can give up to date presentations on the Army, Infantry,& PWRR please click on button for more information on the two teams please click top button (RST).
