FOUR MEN IN A BOAT
Army team to row around Great Britain

GB Row Challenge

Three intrepid Grenadier Guardsmen and a civilian are to set off on the first unassisted circumnavigation of Great Britain in a 40 foot rowing boat from Tower Pier, London, at 1330hours on June 7th.

The distance, estimated at 2110 miles, will require the crew to row 24 hours a day for up to two months, depending upon wind, tide and weather conditions.

The GB Row Challenge, as it is known, will establish a new world record for this, as yet unique, adventure in the hope that others may attempt to beat their time in the future.

The crew of four includes:

Lieutenant William de Laszlo, 25 from Hampshire
Lieutenant Ben Jesty, 25, from London
Sergeant James Bastin 35, from Gloucestershire
Mr William Turnage, 26, from Hampshire.

The crew plans to raise a million pounds (?) for charity to be shared between The Outward Bound Trust and The Institute of Cancer Research.
