Woodwind

Woodwind Quintet Band of the Life Guards

The woodwind quintet has distinct classical roots.  Normal instrumentation is:

  • Flute
  • Oboe
  • Clarinet
  • French horn
  • Bassoon

The type of ensemble presents many advantages over other groups in that as well as being suitable for large events, the nature of the instruments involved make it perfect for the smaller venues.

The quintet covers music from all genres but is particularly well endowed with works by the great classical composers.

Their mixtures of soft woodwind sounds, linked to the smooth beauty of the French Horn make it a particular favourite for dinner receptions and weddings.

A truly unique combination that has all the class and delicacy of a string quartet but also the power and lighter side of a brass group.
