Band of the Welsh Guards

Welsh Guards Band in London

The Band of the Welsh Guards is based at Wellington Barracks, London. It was formed in 1915 and has an establishment of 49 musicians. Links with the Regiment's traditional recruiting areas in Wales are maintained by regular public appearances there, often with many of the fine male voice choirs for which the Principality is renowned.

As a Guards Band within the Household Division, the Band of the Welsh Guards provide musical support for a number of different Ceremonial and State Occasions. The most common of Ceremonial events include Changing the Guard, St James' Guard, and Windsor Guard. The Band can also be seen in other Ceremonial Events such as Trooping the Colour, Beating Retreat, and various memorial events.

Involvement with children and young people in instrumental clinics and music workshops is always a priority, and close ties with various schools and colleges have successfully developed through these avenues. Concerts are also given regularly for charities such as The Army Benevolent Fund, The Royal British Legion and The Soldier's Sailors and Air Force's Association.
