Director of Music

Captain Williams enlisted into the British Army in 1992 at depot Prince of Wales's Division, Lichfield. After completing basic training he undertook the one-year pupil's course at The Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall.
 
In 1993 he was posted to the Band of the 1st Battalion the Staffordshire Regiment where he served in the UK and Northern Ireland. Following the restructuring of Army Music in 1994 he joined the newly formed Lucknow Band of the Prince of Wales's Division. Whilst serving with the Band he toured the UK, Canada, the USA, Cyprus and mainland Europe.
 
In 2001 he was selected to undertake the three-year Bandmaster's course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. On completion of the course he obtained a BMus(Hons) and won prizes in composition and orchestration.
 
His first Bandmaster appointment was in September 2004 to The Band of the Hussars and Light Dragoons where he served in Holland, Germany and Cyprus. Under 'Future Army Structure' and The Corps of Army Music reorganisation he took up his new appointment with the Light Cavalry Band in June 2006 and served in the UK, Brunei, and Germany.
 
In July 2007 he was assigned to the Royal Artillery Band in Woolwich. As well as performing at the various State Ceremonial engagements in and around London, the band ventured as far afield as Switzerland and China.  In November 2009, he was selected for commission into The Corps of Army Music.

Captain Williams had the honour of taking command of The Band of The Prince of Wales’s Division in July 2010.  He is a long suffering Aston Villa fan and a keen cyclist and runner.
