About the Band

The Band is located in Tidworth Garrison near Salisbury.  This location in the south of the UK is ideal for supporting events in the south but does not stop the band travelling including overseas tours and trips as required.

As well as a very good marching band and symphonic concert band capability it has a number of smaller ensembles available.

These ensembles include:

  • Pentagon brass quintet - Five dedicated brass players who perform for any function where background music is the order of the day. They have a vast repertoire of brass ensemble music suitable for any event and any location.
  • Fanfare team -  A team of fanfare trumpets ideal to make a statement, open an event, weddings, corporate events and so much more.  The uniform and military presence and style cannot be matched by any other musical ensemble.
  • Choir - Originally a male voice choir based on the Regimental Band Choirs of the Royal Regiment of Wales and the Royal Welch Fusiliers, the recruitment of women into infantry bands has made the choice of repertoire even better. Whilst providing an element of variety into the military band concert, the choir has also performed in its own right at regimental functions and memorial services . Those who got to see the Remembrance Service at the 'Royal Albert Hall' in Nov 2004 will have seen and heard us perform in front of the Queen.
  • Peanut Stompers dixie band - The Peanut Stompers were formed in 1996 during the Band's tour of Cyprus. During the tour they played various jazz clubs on the island and several military functions. In the UK they have performed at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and many local pubs and clubs. During the Band's tour of Canada in 1998 the Peanut Stompers were privileged to play for the opening ceremony of the Ottowa Jazz Festival and were also invited to play at the closing event of the Medicine Hat Jazz Festival. It was during their tour of Ottawa that the Stompers appeared on Canadian Television.
  • Marching band - Most people at some point will have seen a military parade being led by a military band.  This is not, however, the only type of 'marching band' that we do.  We also perform in, sometimes intricate, marching displays for the most diverse of functions.  For example: Beating The Retreat on Horse Guards Parades in London, indoor cabaret marching band in a hotel or theatre, County shows, Freedom of the town parades and the list keeps going.
  • Woodwind quintet - When a more subtle ambience is required, our woodwind quintet is ideal performing light classical music. Performing at prestigious Civic receptions and Regimental Mess dinners, the ensemble provides light accompaniment to the occasion.
  • Sax quartet - This ever popular quartet blends a diverse range of music into your evening from Jazz to arrangements of classical music specially put together for this ensemble. Equally at home providing support to Regimental Mess dinners or cocktail parties, the group gives a lift to any occasion.
