Band of the Welsh Guards

Band of the Welsh Guards at Wellington Barracks

The Band of the Welsh Guards is based at Wellington Barracks, London. It was formed in 1915 and has an establishment of 49 musicians. Links with the Regiment's traditional recruiting areas in Wales are maintained by regular public appearances there, often with many of the fine male voice choirs for which the Principality is renowned.

The Band of the Welsh Guards can regularly be seen at the world famous ceremony of Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace, as well as at many of the Nations other State and ceremonial occasions. They play a pivotal role in the annual Queen's Birthday Parade, televised globally.

The Band of the Welsh Guards, or one of its smaller ensembles, can supply music for any event, either military or civilian.  If you are organizing an event to which you would like to add not just fabulous musical support, but also a splash of colour, a touch of class and some good old-fashioned pomp and ceremony, please contact us.

The Band has recorded the music for the wedding of HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton - A Royal Tribute.

The Royal couple will marry at Westminster Abbey on Friday, 29 April, and it will have a soundtrack provided by the regimental band.

It includes a recital by Hollywood actor and Welshman Michael Sheen. Sheen, who grew up in Port Talbot, follows in the footsteps of another Welshman, Richard Burton, by reciting an extract from Dylan Thomas's Under Milkwood against a backdrop of the band playing All Through The Night.

The album also includes Treorchy Male Choir and Welsh singers Aled Jones and Gwawr Edwards, and a performance by the Choir of Westminster Abbey.
