The Band of the Royal Corps of Signals
As one of the most respected and professional bands within the British Army, the Band's primary role is to provide a public face to the various units of the Corps, performing to troops and entertaining both civilian and serving personnel.
The Band of the Royal Corps of Signals is permanently based in Blandford Forum, Dorset, home to the Royal Corps of Signals. It is a versatile musical force able to compete with any similar organization worldwide.
As well as performing at high profile ceremonial occasions, the Band is able to provide an extra dimension to any military, corporate or civil occasion. The Band has travelled extensively during its existence, recent tours include Bosnia, Canada, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Italy, Germany, and Pakistan.
Within the United Kingdom the Band has performed many high profile ceremonial duties such as Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and HRH Princess Royal's Garden Party. It also regularly performs concerts across the South West of England, raising funds for Forces Charities including ABF The Soldiers' Charity, Help For Heroes and The Poppy Appeal.
The Band's diverse ensembles comprise of Marching Band, Concert Band, Dixie Band, 12 piece Soul Band (Soul'jers) as well as a number of smaller ensembles. The Band also works in conjunction with the Royal Signals White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team, the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Corps of Signals, and the Royal Signals Freefall Parachute Display Team, performing at international, national and local events.
Under the baton of Captain David Barringer, the Band of the Royal Corps of Signals continues its tradition of musical excellence.
Our CD, Viva Musica, features music from Paul Hart (Cartoon), Satoshi Yagisawa (Young Pheasants in the Sky) and Alfred Reed (Viva Musica).
It also features excellent performances by the Band's soloists and sections, including Over The Rainbow and Fields of Gold performed by our outstanding vocalist Lance Corporal Tracy Shaw.
