Director of Music - Major NP Morgan FLCM LRSM psm
Major Neil Morgan enlisted into the Army in July 1979 as a Junior Bandsman in the Royal Hampshire Regiment. Whilst with the Regimental Band he served in the UK, Germany and Northern Ireland. Tours included Denmark, Kenya, Turkey and the Channel Islands.
In January 1991 he began the three year Student Bandmaster Course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall.
After graduating, he was appointed Bandmaster of the Band of the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, stationed at Arborfield. Tours undertaken included, Canada, USA, Hong Kong and Switzerland. In July 1998 he was appointed Staff Bandmaster at the Headquarters Army Music where he was jointly responsible for the implementation of the Systems Approach to Training.
In October 1999 he was commissioned and appointed Director of Music, Band of the Brigade of Ghurkhas on 4th November 1999. During his appointment, he was deployed on operational tours to Bosnia, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan and orchestrated the inaugural Ghurkha Band tour of Nepal.
In February 2005, Major Morgan assumed the appointment of Director of Music of the Band of the Adjutant Generals Corps.
He joined HQ DCAMUS as SO2 G1 Manning and Recruiting on 2nd October 2006.
After a successful two-year period at HQ DCAMUS, Major Morgan was posted to the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers stationed at Chatham.
Bandmaster - Warrant Officer Class 1 CT Philbin BMus(Hons)
Warrant Officer Class One Bandmaster Craig Philbin enlisted in the Army in 1987 as a trumpet player.
In 1989, having completed two years of training at the Army Junior School of Music, Bovington, Dorset, he was posted to the St. Georges Band of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. He remained with this band for five years, often touring abroad to various countries such as Norway, Holland and Canada.
In 1994 he was posted to the newly formed Normandy Band of the Queens Division, and during this time his tours included visits to The Falkland Islands, Cyprus, Germany, Denmark, Bosnia and Sweden.
In 2002 he was selected to attend a three year Student Bandmaster course at The Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, in London.
In July 2005, he graduated from The Royal Military School of Music with a Bachelor of Music honours degree, and in August 2005 was appointed as Bandmaster of The Band of the Royal Lancers in Münster, Germany.
Following the disbandment of the Royal Lancers Band in July 2006, he was appointed as Bandmaster of the Band and Drums of The Royal Gibraltar Regiment. Tours with this Band included Morocco and Ascension Island.
In August 2008 he was appointed as Bandmaster of the Band of The Corps of Royal Engineers.
He plays trumpet in the Army Big Band and has performed live with major recording artists including Jools Holland and Westlife. He enjoys many sports including football, squash, tennis and badminton. He is a German linguist and his other interests include music composition, geology and fishing.
