The Band recently performed at Spruce Meadows in Canada.
The Light Cavalry Band was formed on the 12 of June 2006 following the amalgamation of the Royal Lancers Band and the Band of the Hussars and Light Dragoons in the reorganisation of Army Music as part of Future Army Structures (FAS).
The Band provides musical support to its affiliated regiments; The Queen's Royal Hussars, The 9th/12th Royal Lancers, The King's Royal Hussars, The Light Dragoons and The Queen's Royal Lancers and the wider Army. Based in Bovington, Dorset, the Light Cavalry Band is one of only two Royal Armoured Corps bands still in existence today.
Under the Direction of Captain AR Adams, the Light Cavalry Band has played at many prestigious events including Buckingham Palace and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The Band has also performed in many locations across Europe including the Nice Tattoo and the Lourdes Military pilgrimage in 2007.
The summer of 2008 saw the band provide musical support for RMA Sandhurst where they played for both the King of Jordan and the Sultan of Bahrain.
In 2009 the band was tasked with Royal Duties in Edinburgh for Her Majesty the Queen closely followed with a successful tour of Canada playing at the world famous Spruce Meadows show jumping event.
The Band performed many 'themed' concerts in 2010 at the local Tank Museum, Bovington. In June the band travelled to the Falkland Islands for the Liberation Day Parade. A Buckingham Palace Garden Party took place in the middle of July and the band spent the last 2 months of the year with a successful tour of Germany performing at Christmas markets and many carol concerts.
