About the Band
Mounted Trumpeters at one of the 'Concerts in the Park', Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, Twickenham.
The Band is in constant demand to perform all over the country and sometimes overseas, often working with other bands, choirs and other musical groups.
Although our speciality is as a mounted band, the Band performs regularly as a marching band.
With a number of talented ensembles which cover almost any situation or event that requires musical support beyond a marching, concert or mounted band, the Band is ready to tackle any event.
The ensembles available are:
- The Musical Ride - A mounted display team within the Household Cavalry. It was first formed in 1882 and performed at The Royal Tournament in the same year. Within this display team are four trumpeters and one drum horse, all of which are members of the Band of The Life Guards and the Band of the Blues and Royals. After forming in March every year and after a few months of training the Musical ride travels all over the UK and also abroad. Recently it has visited Abu Dhabi, Oman and Switzerland.
