Director of Music

Major Glen Jones MMus, BA (Hons), Dip Mus (Open), ATCL, CAMUS 

Major Glen Jones joined the Army in September 1983, and after 2 years of training at the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Armoured Corps, joined the band of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards.  In 1992 he embarked on a career in the Household Division, and after a rewarding career in the Band of the Grenadier Guards he was selected for the Bandmaster course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall in 1997.  On completion of this course, he won a number of prizes including the Worshipful Company of Musicians prize for the best overall student bandmaster, whilst gaining a first class honours degree.

After a number of posts as a Bandmaster, he was commissioned in 2005 and was appointed as the Director of Music for the Band of the Parachute Regiment, located in Colchester.  More recently, he was the Deputy Chief Instructor at the Royal Military School of Music, a post he held since October 2008. 

As a conductor, he has been fortunate to work with various bands and choirs around the country, including Bournemouth Concert Brass and Staines Brass Band, two of the south's leading brass bands.  As a composer, his work Toccata features in the music engraving software programme, Sibelius.  And more recently, as the musical Director for the Army's 2009 and 2010 contemporary Rhythm Force concerts, he composed the opening number at both events which in 2009 was headlined by the world-renowned TV presenter and jazz musician, Jools Holland and in 2010 Status Quo.

Major Jones was appointed Director of Music of the Band of the Royal Logistic Corps in February 2011.
