History
The Band was formed in 1993 by the amalgamation of the Bands of The Royal Corps of Transport and The Royal Army Ordnance Corps. It is based at The Princess Royal Barracks near Camberley and is made up entirely of musicians from the Corps of Army Music. In addition to a broad commitment to support a large number of military events the Band has performed to the public all over the world in combinations ranging from solo trumpeter to full military band.
The Band has over the years performed in Hong Kong, Australia, Cyprus, Norway, Belgium, the U.S.A., Germany, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the Falkland Islands. This year we spent 5 weeks in Cyprus providing musical support to the British Forces based there.
In 2003 the Band was deployed on Operation Fresco, providing emergency fire fighting cover for the communities in the North East of England and Kent during the Fire Service Strike. In 2007 the Band spent a week working with OPTAG (Operational Training Group) assisting with the training of soldiers and officers about to deploy to Afghanistan and the Middle East.
