Audition
The performance side of the audition process to become a musician in the Corps of Army Music.
An audition will be arranged for you by your Army Career Adviser on completion of some basic tests and an interview. These basic tests will be held at your local Army Careers Information Office/Armed Forces Careers Office with the audition being held at Kneller Hall.
The audition process takes place over a 2 day period at the Headquarters Corps of Army Music, Kneller Hall in Twickenham.
Attendees will be required to perform two contrasting pieces on their primary instrument/voice and if applicable, on their secondary instrument.
During the audition process your sight reading skills will be tested and your aural perception assessed.
As well as proving your performance and aural skills you will also be required to sit a music theory paper of ABRSM grade 5 standard. Auditions can be uncomfortable so we hope that by spreading the process over a two day period, applicants feel less pressured.
Not all musicians have recognised musical qualifications so with or without them you may gain entry in to the Corps by audition alone. If you can demonstrate you have the potential we are looking for, we can help develop it to the full.
A formal letter will be sent to all auditionees giving notification of results.
