APTITUDE TEST (BRITISH ARMY RECRUIT BATTERY (BARB))

1. The best way to assess your career potential is to take the Army Entrance Test (also known as BARB). This test determines the General Trainability Index (GTI). You'll need to register an application form first - this does not commit you to joining - then complete our touch screen, multiple choice test to find out the types of jobs that would suit you best. Your adviser will then arrange a time when you can discuss your career options in more detail.

2. Each job in the Army has a GTI score to be achieved together with other selection criteria. You must achieve at least the minimum criteria laid down before selection for training is considered.

BASIC SKILLS ASSESSMENT (BSA)

3. The Army will require you to undertake a Basic Skills Initial Assessment to establish your level of literacy and numeracy. You must achieve Entry Level 2 or above. You must also pass the English Speaking and Listening Test at Level 1 or above.

4. See if you have what it takes to attempt some of the selection tests you will face if you apply to join the Army, FIND OUT MORE>>

5. The minimum GTI score required to qualify for selection is listed in the Career Groups, click here for information.
