Winchester's Military Museums Visitor Centre

Once the site of a Royal Castle (1067-1645) and Charles II's intended Royal Palace (1682-85), Peninsula Barracks was formerly the recruit training depot of the Green Jackets before being developed for residential use in the 1990s. To see the site alone is worth a visit.

Information about the history of the Peninsula Barracks site and about the five other military museums in Winchester which, after visiting The Royal Green Jackets Museum, you may also wish to visit, is available in Winchester's Military Museums Visitor Centre, which is in the former Guard Room at the entrance to the site.

There is a website dedicated to Winchester's Military Museums: go to http://www.winchestermilitarymuseums.co.uk/ or click here.
