Access To Information
(A Guide To Using this Website)

This Website aims to provide the users as much access to information, on The Rifles, as is physically possible. This is the only official Website of The Rifles. It is the Regiment’s primary publication scheme, in support of the British Army’s requirement to comply with the regulations of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

The defence publication scheme can be accessed via www.foi.mod.uk.  To link to the Ministry of Defence Website, click here.

In addition, the Journal of The Rifles (The Bugle) will be published bi-annually and contains a vast amount of information on recent Regimental activities.  This can be purchased from RHQ The Rifles.  It is hoped that this will be available electronically in the future.

How to navigate around this Website

The Website has been designed to enable a user to access a significant amount of material concerning the Regiment’s present day and historical activities.  The navigation to the left of the page enables the user to access information specific to The Rifles, whilst the top-level navigation provides access to pages within the Army Website - www.army.mod.uk.

Your start point could be the interactive Site Map, which shows all the pages contained within the Website.  The site map allows you to drill down into each section by clicking on the symbols marked with a "+".

Links to external websites have been kept to a minimum.  Where links have been provided, the information is deemed to support the content within this Website.  However, the Regiment does not govern the content within these Websites.  Click here for those bodies that are recommended as a potential source of information.

The navigation to the left of the page has been arranged into specific subject areas.  Depending on the size of the subject areas, additional sub-navigation may appear, when certain pages are selected.

What if this Website does not provide you with the information you want?

Should you require additional information, on a specific subject area on the Regiment since 2007, you should contact RHQ The Rifles.  However, requests for information of a more historical nature (concerning our former county regiments) should be directed to the respective regimental county offices.

Please note that RHQ The Rifles and the respective county offices have a significant amount of archived information, some of which dates back to 1685.  To that end, a charge might have to be raised for access to information, outside the normal working requirements of the respective offices and their staff.  In some cases the Regimental Archives could be made available to users to view; however, this will be possible by appointment only.

Alternatively, visit any of the Museums, to see our Regimental heritage or our Resources page for bodies not connected with the Regiment
