Soldier - How to Join

Make Contact: The first step of your army career requires you to go to your nearest Army Careers Office. Their phone numbers are listed in the Yellow Pages.

Entrance Exam: At the army careers office they will ask you some basic questions about your background and book you in to sit the basic entry test. It's a touch screen computer test that everyone has to sit before joining. It's not too hard! We give you a practice booklet to go home with prior to the test, so you can practice before you sit the test.

Interviews: Once you have passed the entrance test you will have an interview with your Recruiter and one with the Careers Officer.

Selection Centre: The next stage requires you to attend the Army Development and Selection Centre, (ADSC). It's a 2 day stay at one of the army's selection Centres. You will be tested in a number of areas, including your fitness, confidence, teamwork skills and basic knowledge of the army. You will also have a final interview with an officer, who will tell you how you have scored and whether we think you are suitable for a career in the army.

Enlisting: On your return to your army careers office we will allocate you a date to start army training. You will then be enlisted into the army, starting your army training around 2 weeks later.
