Commitment

4 Mercian teamwork and commitment
In 4 Mercian we are a team and we expect you to have a high level of personal commitment.
Our minimum requirement is that you complete
- one weekend per month
- one or more Tuesday evening Drill nights
- a two-week Training camp each year
If you want to you can do more training.
As well as infantry, there are many opportunities for
- signallers
- military clerks
- combat medic technicians
- drivers
- officers
- physical training instructors
Once fully trained you could be mobilised and go on overseas operations with 4 Mercian or another unit. Usually we ask for volunteers, but if needed you may be compulsorily mobilised. If you are mobilised your job will be protected, see the Employer Support page for more information.
When you join 4 Mercian and complete Phase 1 (Recruit) training, you must tell your employer you have joined the TA.
It is better to tell your employer as soon as possible to help them in their personnel planning. More information about Employer Notification (EN) is available on the Employer Support page.
An employer can benefit from your TA experience through your improved skills and TA training. A fact sheet is available for employers at http://www.sabre.mod.uk/. SABRE is the Supporting Britain's Reservists and Employers campaign and tells employers about the many benefits of employing members of the volunteer reserve forces.
